Cheboksary Beer Museum

Beer Museum: (quote from "Places" at this website)
One of Cheboksary's most touted tourist attractions is the beer museum.
The building itself is unique, constructed of wood in the style of an
old-time beer hall, and with no paneli. The interior is dark, the
floor rickety, and lined up on shelves are old brewing artifacts.
Overall it feels like a midwestern meth lab. After walking several
feet, you are abruptly detoured into a drink-bar, thus ending the tour.

The Beer Museum is at the foot of Ulitsa Karl Marks,
tucked into a courtyard.
It describes the local Chuvashian brewing history.
Have the Chuvash the most beer history in Russia?
Is this the only beer museum in Russian Federation?
Is there a bar on the top floor with many brands?
Mainly Buket Chuvashia but also some Yantar?
Restaurant Buket Chuvashii, is in down under it?
Or is it on the top floor by the bar?

My only russian beer experience is from Sankt-Peterburg,
and that city also has a good working brewery with
various kinds of beer, with good good taste.

Quote from wikipedia; Ask someone in Russia about Chuvashia
and they will likely respond with a comment about beer, as
the republic has been a center of hops growing and beer
brewing for hundreds of years.
There are two beer manufacturers in Cheboksary,
Buket Chuvashii and
Yantar, as well as Russia's only beer museum.

Well, when someone mentions Chuvashiya to me, I think of
city Cheboksary, chocolate, beer, tractors, Nataliya's,
church-bells, Lemon, and a statue....

The great thing is it was the Europeans who introduced Americans to beer. The midwest has a lot of breweries.

Cheboksary is almost similar to "midwest",
about 800kms east of Moskva (Moscow).
Re: Cheboksary Beer Museum
January 06, 2008 04:17PM
Wow. I thought Cheboksary was much closer than that. But I know it's not a hop, skip, and a jump. So 800 kilometers are the equivalent of 500 miles in the United States. One mile equals 1.6 kilometers. With my car it would take me about nine hours from Moscow going a speed of 55 miles per hour, or 88 kms per hour. Do you know what the speed limits are on the public highways over there?

look at signs (but somewhere signs are
missing)

but I would recommend public transport

then you avoid problems with militsia

and it is much cheaper than driving
your own car

I stopped drinking because I was an alcoholic. beer and vodka were my drinks of choice. But I'd certainly visit the museum if I go there.

You're right djoeye. Luckily I just stopped cold-turkey. I do drink non-alcoholic beer and wine. There are many available in the US. Anyway, djoeye, I'll toast to the museum with you.

In Sankt-Peterburg the breweries had so many variants of beer,
they had numbers on them, beer number 6, number 8 a.s.o

What about beer from Cheboksary? Numbers or names?

I am not a beer fan at all but I still know something. There are two breweries in Cheboksary. One of them is called 'Buket Chuvashii' (bouquet of Chuvashia). The beer it produces has the same name. It has some varieties. Among them are 'light', 'dark' and something else. The name of the second brewery is 'Yantar'. It also produces beer named after the company's name.

European beer is so much more tasty than that made in America. It's said that American beer is weak and tastes light. I believe it. That's why there are many imported beers in the United States. I found in the past that regular European beer tastes like bock beer. I guess the original Germans who started the beer brewing in the midwest had great recepies. As the brewing got more American, the breweries were more inerested in reducing production costs at the expense of beer quality. Hence, a lot of foreugn tourists to the United States say the beer made in America is more like water.

Obolon' is a very popular beer in Russia. The word itself means sapwood and seems to be a commonly used to name city districts and metro stations. The last stop on Kiev's blue line is Obolon'.

Beer cannot have 11% of alcohol. Stronger beers are over 5%. The strongest beer I have ever drunk was German Pirminator Beer which had 6,9% of alcohol.

This is best searved cold .
It is an Irish recipe and tastes a little different outside of Ireland . A good few minutes is needed to pour and it has a creamy head .
